Pacifier Clip Strap

Make a short, soft crochet strap that holds a pacifier close to your baby's clothes. Three lengths suit the clip and ring you choose, and every size keeps the whole strap, hardware included, at 7 inches or less. A tiny ring motif is charted in two colours with a written row for every row.
You'll need:
- Fine mercerized cotton in two colours (sage and cream); a small amount
- 2.25 mm crochet hook, or size to match gauge
- A clip and a silicone ring made for babies, a yarn needle and scissors
Important Safety Notes
Keep it short: The finished strap, with its clip and ring, must measure 7 inches (17.8 cm) or less from end to end. Measure it laid straight before every use, and never make it longer.
Never around the neck: Never tie, loop or hang a pacifier or this strap around a baby's neck. It is a strangulation danger.
Not for sleep: Take the strap off the baby's clothes before any nap or night sleep. The American Academy of Pediatrics advises against attaching a pacifier to a baby's clothing while the baby sleeps. Never clip it to bedding, a crib or a car seat harness.
Baby-safe hardware: Use only a clip and a ring made for babies, with smooth edges and no parts that can come loose. Sew them on exactly as the pattern says, and hang the weight test from both ends. Stop using the strap if anything is loose, worn or damaged.
Nothing added: Do not add beads, charms, buttons, pompoms, tassels, ribbon or cord.
Yarn and care: Use soft, smooth, washable yarn that does not shed or fuzz, and wash a swatch first. Weave in every end and check inside the finished item for loose strands, which can wrap around a baby's fingers or toes. Wash inside out.
If you sell what you make: Children's products sold in the US must meet CPSC rules, including testing, a Children's Product Certificate and a tracking label. Start at cpsc.gov.
