Crochet a New Year garland that says HELLO, then your year: five lettered pennants, four year-digit pennants you fill in with the app (one digit each) and gold star pennants between. Two lengths: 6 ft with 11 flags and 9 ft with 15 flags. The finished-item picture is an illustration; colours are approximate. Charted motifs are built from whole stitches, so a made piece looks blockier and simpler than the picture. The picture shows the 6 ft banner with the sample year 2027.

Materials: DK weight cotton (category 3) in A Navy, B Gold, C Silver and D Cream; 3.5 mm hook or size to match gauge; yarn needle; scissors; ruler; about 95 in (6 ft banner) or 132 in (9 ft banner) of ribbon, twill tape or cord. Yarn amounts are estimates: weigh your swatch.
