Keepsake Year Ornament
Crochet a gold keepsake ornament with a navy plate that carries your year, filled in with the app (four digits), a front and a plain back joined with a ribbon loop. One chart, one year at a time: make a new one every New Year. One size, about 3.8 x 3.3 in for each crocheted panel (a little smaller once joined with the edging). The finished-item picture is an illustration; colours are approximate. Charted motifs are built from whole stitches, so a made piece looks blockier and simpler than the picture.
Materials: DK weight cotton (category 3) in A Navy, B Gold, C Cream and D Silver; 3.5 mm hook or size to match gauge; yarn needle; scissors; a short length of ribbon or yarn for the loop; a little polyester stuffing (optional). Yarn amounts are estimates: weigh your swatch.
Ornaments are decorations, not toys: hang them out of reach of babies and small children.
