Nursing Cover

Crochet a roomy nursing cover that hangs from a flat neck strap and closes with snaps, with no ties or cords. A row of small cream sprigs sits above a clay and cream striped hem, and the wide sage field above it is left open for you to keep plain or fill with your own design in StitchWing. The panel, the long strap and the tab are charted, and every row is written out.
You'll need:
- DK (light weight) cotton or cotton blend in three colors: sage, cream and clay
- 4.5 mm crochet hook, or size to match gauge
- Seven pressed (no-sew) snap halves (six studs and one socket) and the setting tool made for them
- Yarn needle, stitch markers and scissors
Important Safety Notes
Nursing cover: This is for the parent. Keep the baby's face uncovered and in view, never use it as a blanket or a cover for a sleeping baby, and use a flat strap that closes with a snap, never a cord.
Snaps, not buttons: Close this item with pressed (no-sew) snaps made for baby clothes, set with the tool made for them. Do not use buttons. Before every wear, tug each snap firmly in every direction; if one loosens, stop using the item.
Yarn and care: Use soft, smooth, washable yarn that does not shed or fuzz, and wash a swatch first. Weave in every end and check inside the finished item for loose strands, which can wrap around a baby's fingers or toes. Wash inside out.
If you sell what you make: Children's products sold in the US must meet CPSC rules, including testing, a Children's Product Certificate and a tracking label. Start at cpsc.gov.
