Ugly Sweater Party Pillow

Ugly Sweater Party Pillow finished item, front view; source picture, illustration.
Front · Digital preview

Crochet a pillow cover that is a deliberately gaudy Christmas sweater: zig-zag bands, a reindeer yoke, a row of little trees and a row of stitched pom-poms in six bright colours. Four sizes cover 14, 16, 18 and 20 in pillow forms; the back is two plain overlapping panels, so there is no zip or button. The finished-item picture is an illustration; colours are approximate. Charted motifs are built from whole stitches, so a made piece looks blockier and simpler than the picture. The picture shows the 14 in size.

Materials: DK weight cotton (category 3) in A Snow, B Red, C Green, D Gold, E Brown and F Navy; 3.5 mm hook or size to match gauge; yarn needle; scissors; a pillow form. Yarn amounts are estimates: weigh your swatch. The pom-poms are charted stitches, not loose parts.
