Getting started with StitchWing
Install StitchWing on your Windows PC or Mac, make your first chart, and know where it’s saved.
1. Install it
Download the installer from the Download page. Then follow the steps for Windows (Windows 10 22H2 or 11) or a Mac (macOS 13 or newer).
2. Make a chart
When StitchWing opens, it asks What are you making? Pick Crochet, Knit, Cross stitch, From a photo or Blank grid.
- For a blank crochet chart, press Crochet, then Start blank. That's two clicks.
- To turn a picture into a chart, press From a photo and choose the picture.
More in Make your first chart and Turn a photo into a chart.
3. Save what you want to keep
Press Save (Ctrl+S on Windows, Command+S on a Mac) to keep your chart. Press Save on a new chart and choose its name and folder. Cancel saves nothing. Later Saves update the same file. A recovery copy helps after an interruption; use Save to keep the pattern. See Where your charts are saved.
4. Simple first, Advanced when you want it
StitchWing opens in Simple mode: Draw, Fill, Erase, Select, Text, Pick color, Undo and Redo. The switch beside the settings gear turns on Advanced for the extra tools. See Simple and Advanced mode.
Do I need an account?
Not for the free version. An account is for buying and for using StitchWing on more than one computer. See Activating, and moving to a new computer.
