Simple and Advanced mode
Simple mode keeps the everyday tools in view. Advanced adds shapes, backstitch, borders and more.
Simple mode
StitchWing opens in Simple mode. The tool strip has what most charts need: Draw, Fill, Erase, Select, Text, Pick color, and Undo / Redo (Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y). The three big buttons are there too: Instructions, Track progress and Print / Export.
Clip art needs a paid plan and is on the tool strip in both modes. Open it and choose Import your own… to pick a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG, or drop your graphic onto the dialog. Choose the size, check the chart preview, then press Insert and move it into place. Undo removes the placed graphic.
Advanced mode
Advanced adds the tools for detailed work, including:
- Shapes, fractional stitches, backstitch and borders
- Your motif library: save a selection to reuse it
- History, invert selection, and clearing colors you no longer use
- Display mode, gridlines, a major gridline every few stitches, and ruler units
Advanced mode needs a paid plan.
Switching
Use the Simple / Advanced switch in the tab bar, next to the settings gear. To choose which mode charts open in, go to Settings and change Open charts in.
If you reach for a tool that lives in Advanced, StitchWing says so and offers Turn on Advanced.
