Download and install StitchWing on a Mac

StitchWing runs on a Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or newer, with Apple chips or Intel. Open the download and drag it into Applications.

Before you start

  • A Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or newer, with Apple chips (M1 and later) or an Intel Mac.
  • The download. Download the installer from the Download page.
  • For Just one thing, Line drawing, Sharpen small artwork and Remove something, use macOS 14 Sonoma or newer. Everything else works on macOS 13.

Install

  1. Open the file you downloaded. It ends in .dmg.
  2. Drag StitchWing onto the Applications folder in the window that opens.
  3. Open StitchWing from Applications, or from Launchpad. The first time, macOS may say it was downloaded from the internet and ask you to confirm: choose Open.
  4. Choose Sign in and sign in with the email address you bought with. That turns on your plan.

If macOS says it can't be opened

Open StitchWing from Applications, rather than from the downloaded disk image. Only if macOS asks, right-click StitchWing in Applications and choose Open, then confirm Open. If it still won't open, contact us with the exact message. Don't turn off your Mac's security settings.

On a Mac the menus are in the menu bar at the top of the screen, and shortcuts use Command where Windows uses Ctrl (Redo is Command+Shift+Z).

Where your charts go

New charts go into the StitchWing folder inside Documents. If macOS asks whether StitchWing can use your Documents folder, choose Allow. Or open Settings, find New charts are saved in, press Change… and pick a folder yourself.

Uninstall

Quit StitchWing, then drag StitchWing from Applications to the Trash. Your patterns in Documents › StitchWing stay right where they are.
