Updates
StitchWing checks for updates when it opens and tells you when one is ready. Nothing downloads or installs until you ask.
The update banner
When a new version is ready, a banner says so. Nothing downloads or installs until you ask: What changed shows what’s new and Install now installs it. Dismiss the banner to keep working, or choose Help › Check for updates any time. StitchWing also checks when it opens and every few hours while it’s open.
What happens when you install
- If any pattern has work you haven't saved, StitchWing asks you first: Save, Don't save or Cancel. Cancel stops the update and nothing is installed.
- Wait for the update to download. If it cannot be installed, follow the message shown.
- It installs the update and restarts. Your saved patterns and settings are left alone.
If an update fails
A failed check, download or installation shows a plain-language message with Retry and Details. The failure stays visible until you retry or dismiss it. Choose Retry to try again, or Details to see more information to include in your report. Check your connection or free disk space if the message asks you to. You can keep using the current version and use Help › Check for updates later.
Find your version
Open Help › About StitchWing to see the app's version. Include it when reporting an update problem. On a Mac, About is in the StitchWing menu.
