Chart notes

Read, copy and edit the notes in your chart. Include them when you print or save a PDF.

Find the notes

When you open a file that came with notes, a one-time hint says This file came with notes, with Show notes. Press Show notes to read them.

You can open them later with Notes, under Print / Export in the side panel. The button shows Has notes when notes are present.

Read, copy or edit

The Notes panel lets you read and copy the text. You can add or edit notes when the chart is editable. Changes can be undone. Use Save to keep your changes in the file. For a read-only chart, you can read and copy the notes but cannot edit them.

Notes from another program

Notes come across from chart formats that carry them, including .PAT designer notes. A .chart file arrives without notes. If a part of the file cannot be read safely, StitchWing tells you what was left out. See Open charts from other programs.

In Print / Export, Include notes appears when there are notes and starts on. It adds plain-text pages after the cover in a printout or PDF. Untick it to leave the notes out. It does not add notes to PNG or JPEG pictures.

For Whole garment, notes from the pieces print together after the cover. Identical notes shared by pieces appear once. See Print a chart or save a PDF.
